Solar KC
Solar KC is a project to install solar technology at public buildings. Projects include:
- Solar Schools: Solar equipment placed on schools will offer teachers the opportunity to introduce monitoring and recording environmental data as part of their curriculum. Schools will be asked to develop an educational program for their students, participate in planning, and develop the means to disseminate results to other schools and the public.
- Solar Homes: Equipment placed on the Project Living Proof residence will demonstrate to homeowners the feasibility of installations of photovoltaic and hot-water solar systems. Equipment installed to monitor solar production will allow visitors to see real-time use of solar power. A resource library developed with the installations will give homeowners the information they need to make decisions and take action to install their own solar powered systems.
- Solar Cities: Equipment at government buildings will offer demonstration and public education opportunities for commercial-scale installations. Local government buildings will be assessed to identify buildings that hold the potential for renewable energy installations with the greatest success and results.
